Stubbled Mod Cabin Man
Sandpaper stubble brings back memories of my father he’d always grab my hand and rub the back of it against his 5 o’clock shadow while I wriggled away and “ooohhed” at it’s surprising roughness. But daily sandpaper stubble for you or your partner to deal with probably isn’t ideal. Thankfully, we’ve come a long way from dry-out grooming routines consisting of cheap bar soap and alcohol aftershave.

Here are 4 simple ways to keep your face, stubble, or beard soft to the touch (and smelling great, too).

Minimize Soap Use

If your climate and job are friendly to it, try cutting down on how many times per week you wash your face with soap to prevent dryness and retain natural moisture. Once a week may not sound like a lot, but considering some experts claim not washing your face at all is the key to healthy-looking skin, once a week can be plenty of cleansing for some.

Over-washing your beard (and likewise, your hair) can make it dry and frizzy. Try washing it every other day or a few times a week with premium, glycerine-packed natural soap to cleanse it without stripping your skin and hair follicles of their natural oils. Always apply beard oil after cleansing, and be sure to rub it into your skin and on your neck to keep your skin nourished and less prone to ingrown hairs.

Ultra-Moisturize: Use Beard Oil and Beard Balm Every Day

If you’re sticking to washing your face and beard everyday, be sure to always apply beard oil and beard balm afterwards to help seal in the moisture. Here is our guide to applying both. Our palm oil-free, essential oil-scented blends are all natural, organic whenever possible, and made with plant extracts and nourishing oils balance and complement your skin’s natural chemistry without any harmful preservatives or unpronounceable mystery ingredients.

Switch from Soap to Cleansing Oil

Cleansing oil may sound like an oxymoron, but here’s the scoop: It really does clean your face. It actually uses oil to help pull the dust and dirt off your face, all while keeping your skin’s PH in balance. Check out our cleansing oil guide for exactly how to apply our all-natural cleanser that is great for all skin types but especially dry skin.

Make Beard Oil Your Best Friend

Trimming your beard? Apply a few drops of beard oil. Embracing your 5 o’clock shadow? Give your face some beard oil. Need a refresher? Rinse your face with cold water, pat dry, and give your beard a few rubs of beard oil. Beards love this stuff, but it’s also a great facial moisturizer and leave-in conditioner.
