One of our most frequently asked questions is, can beard oil help with beard growth?
The answer is yes.. just not in the way you might think.
Although nothing can change the rate at which your hair grows, the best beard oils help create ideal conditions for healthy growth. A healthy beard means less breakage, which means a thicker, fuller look faster than you would achieve without a high-quality beard oil.
How It Works
Beard oils that contain unrefined jojoba oil and pure argan oil promote beard growth by naturally moisturizing the skin underneath your beard. This removes unwanted dead skin cells and other impediments to fast facial hair growth. The right beard oil will penetrate your facial hair pores, enhancing your whisker’s elasticity and stimulating speedy beard growth. In addition to these benefits, beard growing oils contain naturally occurring antioxidants and vitamin E that further strengthen your beard by repairing the damage done to the cellular membranes of your facial hair. The stronger and more resilient your beard is, the faster it will appear to grow.
Applying beard oil to your beard and the skin underneath also prevents that stubborn growing-in stubble itch, which can cause even the most beard-committed to give in to shaving before a full beard grows in.
How to Choose
Choosing the right beard oil can seem overwhelming, but there are only a few key things you need to know to buy an awesome oil that will make your beard grow in fuller and healthier.
- Beard oil only needs a few key ingredients to work, and its main ingredients should include either jojoba or argan oils. These oils are the most like sebum, the natural oil produced by the skin itself, and are easily absorbed by the hair and skin.
- Avoid beard oil with heavy carrier oils like olive oil or castor oil. These oils sit on top of the hair and can make it appear greasy.
- Choose beard oils that are scented with from-the-earth essential oils. Artificial fragrances can irritate both your lungs and your skin.
The Mod Cabin’s beard oils hit all of these marks. Check them out here >>
When to Use
There’s a common misconception that you should only use beard oil on a beard that’s already established. Those with barely-there facial hair who are hoping to grow a beard shouldn’t wait for facial hair to grow in before using beard oil. The right beard oil also makes a great moisturizer, so begin nourishing those potential beard hairs that are growing beneath the skin now so they can grow in strong, moisturized, and healthy. Apply daily and repeat throughout the day as needed depending on your climate, environment, and activity level to grow and maintain a strong, conditioned beard.
How to Apply
For best results, we recommend splashing a small amount of beard oil into your palm and massaging it into your skin and beard. Apply in the morning after washing and towel drying your beard, and again before bed. You can apply more throughout the day if you notice your beard feeling a little dry. In order to distribute the beard oil evenly through your facial hair, we recommend using a boars hair beard brush (ours is cruelty-free). This also serves the important purpose of gently removing dry, dead skin cells that can clog pores, cause ingrown hairs, and prevent full beard growth.

I was just recently introduced to beard oil by a former co worker and was wondering. I’ve already got an inch to an inch and a half of beard. Would beard oil still benefit me much or is it better to start fresh?
-
Hi, Robert! That’s a great question. The answer is that you’ll continually benefit from using beard oil or beard balm. It helps to think about your hair, including your beard hair, has having a life cycle. Your hair is constantly falling out and being replaced with new hair. When applied properly beard oil will nourish your hair beneath the skin, which will improve it’s health as new hair grows in. It will also help keep the current hair healthy and hydrated which means less breakage.

Am 20 years old and i still dont have full beard on my face.. So please tell me it works for that to come full face beard please reply pleaseee.. Thank you
-
Hi, Mubarez!
First of all, I’m going to be honest and tell you that if you can’t grow hair in certain places, there is no natural product that will make hair grow where there is no hair cuticle beneath the skin. That being said, you can certainly take steps to make sure that you’re creating the conditions for healthy hair growth by making sure that your exfoliating your skin to allow the hair to grow above the skin, and not using products with synthetic ingredients that can damage your skin and hair.
If you’re already doing your best to properly care for your facial hair, but you still have patches, then try finding a beard style that is shaped similarly to how your hair naturally grows. There are several beard style charts on the internet that you can take a look at to find a style that works best for you. In the end, you’ll be happiest if you work with what you have, and not against it.
I hope that helps! Let us know if there’s anything else we can help with.

Hello guys thanks for your help and time, i do have a question for you,
Ive recently started growing beard to the goal of a full one or a hipster beard now i know from my barber that i have thik beard hairs and im almost 3 weeks in now and im having a good beard but i have this small area at my cheek that has a little shorter hairs in it so will beard oil help me ?,
And one last thing im looking a but rough now so what is the best way to get a good (work, suit ) look and clean with out cutting my beard or damaging it?
Thanks alot-
Neno,
you want to make sure you are exfoliating and moisturizing the skin underneath your beard. Make sure to wash your facial hair with an all-natural hot processed soap. Store bought soaps and beard washes tend to try your skin out. In addition, adding a jojoba and argan based beard oil will help create the conditions for speedy growth. It is possible you will just not grow long facial hair in certain areas. But keeping your skin and beard properly exfoliated and moisturized will help you make the most of what you have. 🙂
-
Thanks for your reply.
But i still have one last question please,
As i said before im going for a hipister beard, and right now im looking really rough and my work requiers a suit and to look neat, so i need to groom my beard ( i have a neck beard and cheek bones beard) and im not sure what lines to use ( neck line or jaw line)?
And What are the upper beard line i need to go with,
Some tips would be great.
Thanks alot-
Hi, Neno!
Sorry about that. We have a blog post that addresses that exact question. There’s a graphic that explains where you should trim. Take a look at this article and see if it answers our question. http://themodcabin.com/beard-styles-the-full-beard/

Hi Ginni. We recommend drinking plenty of water, taking a biotin supplement, washing they spots where your facial hair does not grow with birch tar soap and then using gunbarrel beard oil on those same spots. This will maximize your potential for beard growth in patchy areas.

I don’t have beard on my chin since last 2years. Can beard oil help me for that?

A lot of it is genetics Akhil. Beard oil can’t make hair grow where its not going to grow. But it can help create the conditions for healthy growth giving you the best chance at growing facial hair.

How..to get beard on face….?? Half face is beard nd half not

First wash with birch tar soap, then use beard oil and beard balm on the areas where you want to grow facial hair. That will enhance your chances of growing facial hair where it is difficult for you.

Does beard oil only gives shine to beard or make it grow also ?

Hi. Which is the best oil or cream available online for beard growth. I could not find any oil or cream related to facial hair growth online other than few hair nourishment products. I have a beard but its not thick. Also does age has to do anything with the growth of the beard.
-
Hi Robin, thanks for your questions. Age can effect beard growth. Prime beard growing years are generally between 20-60. But many people older and younger grow full beards. Perhaps the most overlooked component to beard growth is hydration. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, wash your face with an all-natural hot processed birch tar soap, and then apply beard oil or beard balm. In addition, a biotin supplement can help your beard grow thicker.

Hello sir, I m 21 years old and still very small beard at my total face and mooch is also very small and beard not cover some part of my face. so suggest me what can I do?
-
Hello, Sagar!
You want to wash with Birch Tar Soap http://themodcabin.com/product/birch-tar-soap/. A regular store bought shampoo or soap may dry out your beard and make it brittle. Once your beard is nearly dry, apply beard oil. We suggest Gunbarrel Beard Oil http://themodcabin.com/product/gunbarrel-beard-oil/, and you can top it off with our Backwoods Beard Balm to provide some hold and lock in all that moisture. http://themodcabin.com/product/backwoods-beard-balm-conditioner/
Used in conjunction your beard should grow in faster and fuller. I hope that helps!

Hi Sagar. Wash your face with The Mod Cabin’s birch tar or amber resin soap, then apply backwoods beard balm and comb through it with our boars hair beard brush. Also make sure you are getting enough water in your diet and you may also want to look for a biotin supplement to help your facial hair grow in thicker. The Mod Cabin’s beard kit is a great way to start.

Hi I want to know my moustache is not growing like in the centre hair grow very slow and outer it grows faster and my moustache hair is very thin so what should I do
-
Hi, Andre!
First, it’s very normal for hair of any sort to grow at slightly different rates. You can minimize the appearance of uneven hair by purchasing a good pair of shears and watching some tutorials on how to trim your moustache properly.
Secondly, you need to avoid washing your facial hair with any harsh chemicals like store bought shampoo and some soaps. You could try our all natural hot processed soap found here: http://themodcabin.com/product-category/beard-soap/, or if you’re in a very dry climate you may be better off using our cleansing oil found here: http://themodcabin.com/product/cleansing-oil/. Use our cleansing oil just like you would a shampoo. It won’t lather up, but you’ll get the same cleansing properties without it stripping your hair of it’s natural oils.
Next, clogged pores can prevent hair from growing in properly, so using a washcloth when washing your facial hair is beneficial, and a boar bristle brush with firm bristles. You can find that here: http://themodcabin.com/product-category/beard-brushes/
Lastly, keep that ‘stache moisturized! Use quality all natural beard oil, and an all natural moustache wax if you need help maintaining a tidy moustache. You can find those here:http://themodcabin.com/product-category/beard-oils/ and here: http://themodcabin.com/product-category/moustache-waxes/
That should get you off to a good start to create the conditions for healthy hair growth. Good luck!

hello! i have a problem with thin beard with a bald spot under the chin but would like it thick, im 20 y/o and have been told “you still have a few years untill you need to worry” but it seems thin and thick in certain spots the chin strap is kinda thick but the neck and cheeks and moustache are thin (like 16 y/o hispanic moustache thin). and i was hoping for a recommendation

We recommend drinking lots of water, taking a biotin and omega 3 supplement. That should help maximize your beard growing potential.

Hello,
I was growing a beard for about 3 months, and it was looking pretty good but there was definite patchiness (I had since had to shave due to a new job). I kept the mustache and I had the basic shape of the mustache I was wanting to go for but it didn’t fill in as thick as I would prefer it to, understanding that beard oil doesn’t quite help growth what can you recommend I do to get that mustache filled in properly? I know it’s a determination process but I know there’s gotta be some way to at least speed up the process somewhat. Also in my early 20’s if that’s a variable factor. Waiting for a reply at anytime!
Thanks!
-
Great question Trace. We recommend brushing your moustache through with a boars hair brush and than adding some beard balm. The sealants in the beard balm will help seal in the moisture from the jojoba and argan in the beard oil/balm.

HI IM TRYING TO GROW A BEARD AND NOTHING IS HAPPENING. I HAVE A LITTLE CHIN BEARD AND SMALL ABOUT GROVING ON THE SIDE OF MY FACE . IS THEIR SOME CREAM OR OIL WHICH CAN HELP ME GROW A FULL BEARD
-
Hi, Todd.
We’d absolutely recommend beard oil for a starter beard. When you’re starting your beard, it’s easy to forget that the hair forming under the skin at the root needs to be cared for properly so that it can grow in strong and healthy. For that reason it’s important to keep your skin moisturized, and our beard oil has the ingredients to do that. It’s a light oil that absorbs into hair and skin easily, and won’t leave you feeling greasy.
Also, what you wash your face and beard with matters, and you want to make sure that you’re not using anything with harsh chemicals. Keep your face exfoliated, because clogged pores can cause ingrown hairs, and inhibit hair growth. You can check out our all natural soap, or our cleansing oil.
Tip: It may seem counterintuitive when you’re trying to grow your beard out, but you can use a beard trimmer to keep all your facial hair trimmed to a shorter length closer to your face, which will help make those sparse patches less apparent while they’re filling in.
And last, but certainly not least, health plays a big role in how hair grows, so drink lots of water and eat healthy meals, and perhaps even take a biotin supplement.
All the best,

how to apply this on face. give me tips for applying 1st time .
give me step by step guidelines
-
Hi, Rohit.
It’s very simple to apply our beard oil. Detangle beard with a comb. Shake bottle well. Splash a small amount of beard oil in palm about the size of a dime, or 1-2 pumps, and massage into skin and beard. Use more for longer, thicker beards. Optionally, you can top with beard balm to seal in moisture. Finish by brushing beard to evenly distribute oils.

How much time does beard take to grow 3 cm
-
Hi, Mannu.
Human hair grows at the same rate, which is about half an inch, or 1.27 cm per month. Health can effect this, so it’s important to eat well and drink lots of water to stay hydrated.

Does beard oil help me to grow a beard even i dont have it
-
Hi, Mark!
Thanks for your question. It will help create the right conditions for you to grow a healthy beard. It will help nourish your facial hair below the skin, so that your beard grows in strong and healthy, but it will also keep existing facial hair moisturized to prevent it from becoming brittle and breaking. Once you’ve grown your beard out a few centimeters, our Beard Balm will also help your beard appear thicker. You can find our beard oils here: http://themodcabin.com/product-category/beard-oils/ And our beard balms here: http://themodcabin.com/product-category/beard-balms/

Does This Oil Help The Beard Grow?

Hello, question? Can I start applying my beard oil as soon as I start my 5 o’clock shadow lol?
-
Hi, Michael!
That’s a great question. Truthfully, you can begin applying it even before any stubble grows in. The reason for this is that the oil will moisturize and nourish the forming hair follicle beneath the surface of the skin, so that your facial hair grows in healthy and strong.
Let us know if you have any other questions!

I have been trying to grow a beard for a while now but it was fragile so I decided to start over what do you recommend for thicker healthier beards? I already grow all over my face just want a stronger healthier looking beard. And what do u recommend to use for styling once it’s long enough.
-
Hi, Davin!
Thanks for your question! We highly recommend sticking with all natural products for your face and beard. A lot of cleansers and shampoos have harsh chemicals that can dry out and damage hair follicles, causing brittleness. I recommend our Core Beard Kit. It has a natural soap, beard oil, and beard balm to keep your face and beard clean, healthy, and strong. Use the soap daily or every other day if you live in a very dry climate. Use the beard oil morning and night. And apply the beard balm on top of the beard oil to help you set and style your beard. It’s a very natural hold, that will help tame fly-aways, as well as seal in the moisture from the beard oil. Finish with a good Boar’s Hair Brush to make sure the oils are distributed thoroughly through your beard.
